Work Description:
In this black and white portrait, Clyfford Still appears seated before PH-177 (1949), which rests upon a large easel. With his left arm positioned against his left leg, Still leans forward and looks directly at the camera. He holds a painting spatula in his right hand. The artist wears glasses, black slacks, and a black sweater over a light-colored shirt. The large canvas of PH-177 dominates the background of the photograph.
