Work Description:
Formerly referred to as "The Spectre and the Perroquet," this composition undoubtedly embodies a narrative quality. Simplified, organic shapes are thoughtfully composed against a black background. A brown mound-shaped form enters the scene and dominates the bottom left corner. A vertical white form rises through the brown near the left edge, growing in width as it rises until it ends in a undulating mass at left center. A thin blue scythe-shaped form also rises from the brown section in the lower left corner, through the white mass, and curves sharply to the right near the top left corner. Three long flowing yellow strokes fall from this shapes top left edge. Another white form floats amidst the black background at the top right, and assumes the shape of a head in profile with two tiny black eyes near its top, a mouth, and a thinly painted yellow halo surrounding its apex. A yellow tail-like form trails from this forms lowermost section. A strange crimson vertical form is situated at the bottom center and rises almost to the center of the work, dividing the earthly left half from the celestial, otherworldly right half of the composition.
