Work Description:
A textured creamy-white pigment covers the majority of the canvas, though several areas of bare canvas interrupt the white field. One area of bare canvas running vertically through the center of the composition features a vertical lifeline to the left of center with a thinner blue line running from top to bottom. An orange and crimson butterfly-shaped form floats in the bottom right quadrant of the work, and contrasts sharply with the peaceful creamy background. An additional burst of yellow appears near the lower right edge and is surrounded by bare canvas. A tiny fleck of blue is barely visible in an area of bare canvas at the bottom left of the work. The orientation of this immense work is somewhat ambiguous, as replicas of this work were exhibited in both orientations during Still's lifetime and with his approval.
