Work Description:
A rich velvety black pigment covers most of this vertically-oriented composition. A thin, bright red form sits horizontally along the top center edge, running almost from edge to edge and opening deeper into the composition at its right edge. A smaller, bright yellow vertical form similarly hangs along the top right edge, running from the top right corner to about a fourth of the way down the edge. A tiny fiery cobalt blue accent rises into the black abyss from the bottom edge left of center. Utilizing different ratios of pigment to media, Still created several areas of black pigment that are more matte and less textural than the majority of the black area. One of the more matte forms runs up vertically along the right edge from bottom before splitting into two horizontal arms which criss-cross and extend under the red and over to the left edge at the top. The second matte black form is located in the bottom left corner, directly to the left of the blue accent form.
