Work Description:
A tall columnar blue form rises from the bottom edge, expanding horizontally across the composition from almost the left edge all the way to the right edge. Its top edge is jagged and has several crevices and protrusions created through Still's use of broad palette knife strokes. Surrounding the blue form on its left, right and upper edges is a black field, which also surrounds a thin red field along the top edge that seems to almost mirror the blue form directly below. A thin yellow vertical lifeline is painted from the top edge at center, which splits the red field for several inches before abruptly ending halfway through the form. A thin red passage can be seen along the bottom right edge of the large blue form. Several other red streaks are visible across the blue pigment, which help to visually balance the vibrant red form at top.
